Origin
Sadako Yamamura was born as the illegitimate daughter of Shizuko Yamamura, a woman with ESP abilities. Raised in a circus and often exploited for her psychic powers, Sadako developed her own supernatural abilities. When her mother committed suicide by jumping into Mount Mihara, Sadako was taken in by her father's family but faced ridicule and abuse. In 1970, at the age of 16, she was murdered by Shizuko's former associate who pushed her into a well at the Himekawadera Temple, where she remained trapped for years until discovered.
Powers & Abilities
Sadako possesses extraordinary psychokinetic and supernatural abilities stemming from her ESP. Her primary power manifests through a cursed videotape—anyone who watches it receives a phone call with a deadline of seven days before Sadako emerges from their television to kill them. She can manipulate technology, distort images, and project herself across media. Additionally, Sadako exhibits telekinesis, able to move objects and cause physical harm remotely. Her immortality and spectral nature make her nearly impossible to kill permanently. She can also sense and influence the minds of those connected to her curse, reading their fears and psychological vulnerabilities.

Reiko Asakawa serves as her primary antagonist—a journalist investigating the curse who becomes trapped by Sadako's videotape. Akira Asakawa, Reiko's son, becomes central to Sadako's plans across multiple timelines. Her relationship with her mother, Shizuko Yamamura, defines her tragic backstory and motivates much of her vengeful nature.
